Starting out I wanted to learn “Python” computer science, but going to the first class of that I did not find any interest at all. So I kept looking to fill that spot of that class, which then I found Digital Storytelling. Looking at the class preview I read that use blogging and create your own source to post your story that can be told. Even though I am not a computer science major I found this very interesting.
The first day of class I will never forget our professor assigned us these boring articles that talked about computers in ways that remarkable. I thought this class was going to be so boring, but it was just the beginning, and then we started to get into the fun stuff. For example, creating our own domain, blogging, working with other servers, and then creating certain things online. Starting those assignments I liked how we kept up with a daily blog to post about random facts, and things that interest us. Another assignment that I enjoyed doing was assignments dealing with media files, for instance audacity and windows media player. Using those programs we were able to edit certain audio files or make our own audio/media file. The reason why I liked these type of assignments were because I found that my skill level was a little bit higher in that area of the course, since I was used to using them in previous computer classes in high school. Last but least the final assignment of the course was to create a digital story that was eight weeks long. At first I came up with plenty of ideas but I found that if I do something that I am highly interested in it will be easy. For the digital story it was hard keeping track of what I wanted to post every week, because honestly I don’t find my life at my computer most of the time. Also for the assignment we had to include some audio, media, or any type of visual aid to post with this story. That I found a problem because I couldn’t find anyone to record a game for me, so I mainly posted pictures or links that lead into my digital story. I still found this entertaining because I like doing assignments like this. Ending on the blog I wanted to keep my domain and keep posting random information once in a while.
Even though it is hard to not like anything we did in class there was plenty of assignments that I did not like at all. The reason I didn’t like them was either because I didn’t understand it, or I didn’t like the assignment. The assignment that I found the most stressful and complicated was, working with html. What made this assignment so difficult was that it dealt with a lot of coding, which I do not understand at all. Another assignment that Joe, Johnas, and I found difficult was editing our video, and replacing the audio with our voices. Even though these assignments were difficult, they will maybe come in help in the future.
This class did not feel like it was a full semester since it was really fun and helpful in many ways. I would recommend this class to anybody who is majoring in computers or want to do something with electronic writing. This class isn’t really for programming and technical stuff like that, but it’s a great course to understand the fundamentals of how the internet works, since our daily life is based on the internet and people communicate over it. All around I enjoyed the class and if I could take it again I would, it was a fun semester while receiving knowledge with it.
Hello world!
Preparing for the final game of the season against conference rivals GMU. The week of preparing for this game was fun, because this team is suppose to be a complete joke. Mason is such a joke that the scouting report said that their coach does not travel with team. The roster of the team said they were huge, but very slow and get winded very easily. For practice we were just working on tackling techniques and some trick place for fun. One of the best advice that coach gave to us during practice was that if one goes in we all are in, because he said that this team likes to fight a lot. So our team was very anxious to see what would go down in this game.
The weather of the game was great breezy sunny Saturday, with kick off being at one. The team arrived at 12 45 leaving them only having 15 minutes to warm up, so we already know that this is going to be a shit show…lol. Its game time lets go..we started to do our pregame hype chant that always gets us going. Our team was coming out with fire like no other, I have never seen us like this be fore. We won the coin toss and the ball is going to be kicked to us. First play of the game or star key player Todd the bodd, gets the ball of the way to his side and runs all the way down the left side and scores the first try of the day. Might I mention that we scored 10 trys during this game. In the first half of the game we kept on getting the ball back to us and it seemed that we would score every time we touch the rock. Our defense was ridiculous.
Something tragic happened one of their players were down yelling off the top of his lungs…”MY LEG!!! OH GOD MY FUCKING LEG!!!, FROM THE SIDE YOU COULD TELL IT WAS BROKEN, HE LOOKED LIKE HE WAS DYING IT WAS SOOO BAD. People rushed to attend and someone in the crowd called 911, to come to the scene. When they got there they had to put him on a stretcher and watching them do that just wanted to make me cry because it looked so painful. He was rushed the ER.
Ending the half on that note, our team was in shock and joy, since that kid got hurt but we were also winning by a lot. Returning at half it was our turn to kick off to them. After kicking the ball to them, after a couple of plays we received the ball back. After getting the ball back we just took control of George Mason, and that’s what we wanted to do. At the end of the game we won 65 to 10. This was a great way to end the season. After the game was over we asked Mason to social with us, to play some drinking games.
The Rugby season that I was part of was a great time, I found it worth it transferring from lax to rugby. The guys are great and the coach is really cool, I also like how we play Division I schools like NC State, Temple, and Maryland. I cant wait till next season since I have a better understanding of the game now.
Insane Rugby Week
Well can’t you say what a busy week for the rugby team with two hard games. The first game was against the Richmond Spiders. The scouting report to this team made them look like a joke team. The scouting report stated that they were a weak team, they were slow on transitions, and were not aggressive. Our game plan was to come out there with a whoop ass attitude. The game weather was not too great on our way there. So when we arrived it started to rain like no other, and we spotted the team and they were a small team. It seemed that the scouting report was going to be right. The lights on the field turned on since it was so dark and the field was a mess. We kicked off the ball first, and when they received the ball they broke more than five guys and got all the way to the 10yd line. They came out with fire and we just underestimated the team. So the whole game we were playing catch up. Me playing eight man was so tiring since I kept running the ball constantly. It felt that my body has been hit by car million times, since I was doing a lot. The game the whole time was a grudge match, for example people having broken teeth, dislocated shoulder, and bloody noses. We ended up losing the game by one try again in the very last second. After the game our coach was furious yelling, cussing, and throwing things. The whole time he said, “Fight for your pride!” But it seemed like we didn’t because we played with no heart at all. We can never stay sync as a team. We have to now have a short memory and prepare ourselves for a very big game against NC State, D II champions.
Coming up on Saturday we had to arrive at the field at 11, for a full team walk through. The scouting report on this team was ridiculous. They had players that weighed up to 260 pounds at 6’6. When I saw him on the field I almost peed myself. The team was also fast and was very aggressive. We had it in for us. We received the ball first and the first drive of the game our player got laid out and fumbled the ball. After one rotation of the ball they were already down the field to score a try. But there was a penalty on the field and the try got called back so now there has to be a scrum. Lining up to do the scrum you could tell how big and scary looking these guys were. They scrum went on and they were so powerful they took the ball right from us and scored a try. The whole time they were running the ball down our throats the whole time. Let me just say we didn’t score one try at all this game, and we also did not win a scrum. That is what happens when your teammates don’t arrive with heart. We really got our asses kicked, it was so bad I don’t even remember the score of the game. During the game I got a bloody nose from getting stiffed arm in the face. After the game our coach wasn’t as mad as we thought he was going to be. He understood that we tried and that they were DII champions. After the game we asked if they wanted to do the old tradition and social. So we bought a keg and started to have a bbq with team that just crushed us. It ended being really fun to hang out with them and ask them questions about their school and stuff.
Update on schedule: LAST GAME OF THE SEASON THIS Saturday AGAINST GEORGE MASON. TIME: 1 OCLOCK TILL ABOUT FOUR.
ALSO COMING SOON WILL BE PHOTOS AND SOME MEDIA AFTER I GET THIS TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY FIXED….lol
Master
I have a few questions for people: Who is your favorite golfer? and Who did you think was going to win the Masters? Well my favorite golfer is Tiger Woods and John Daly, and I hate Phil Mickleson with a passion. Well watching the masters this past weekend was very interesting because it was very close the whole time. Of course Phil Mickleson won the Master, even though it was good to watch Tiger play since he hasn’t played in 144 days. What got my attention though was Anthony Kim scoring a 65 in the final round, imagine if he had better first and second day play.
Golf is such a amazing sport to watch, people might say it is easy but trust me it isn’t. Even watching the Master tournament shows a lot about golf and the traditions that come with it.
Pregame Post Warm-Up
We have two games coming up this week on Thursday we are playing Richmond University, underneath lights. CAN’T WAIT!!!! Even though they are not good we have to come out with fire, and show them it ain’t no game out here. On Saturday we play Division II champs NC State: Wolfpack. We are going to have to play very well, and not let down the intensity.
For the past couple of practice we have still been working on tackling, since we are doing a poor job at hitting. Another problem we have is that we don’t spread out when we need to spread the field to get better gaps. Also what has been the biggest problem is shooting ourselves in the foot when we are in the lead, because we can not finish a game to save our lives, coach said.
COME OUT AND WATCH THE GAME ON SATURDAY AT 1!!!!! IT IS GOING TO BE A REALLY GOOD!
LOCATION: IS THE RUGBY FIELD NEXT TO THE TRACK
Class on Thursday, I will not be attending class due to a Rugby game at Richmond University. I know how much you enjoy my present, but I will be back.
Coming up soon will be some live photos, maybe some video footage!!!!!
Now since i have transferred to the Rugby team I have attended a full week of practice. Attending this whole week of practice gave me a better understanding on how the game of Rugby is played. This week of practice was so hard since the weather was really hot. The heat was a huge factor since it made it hard for me to breathe. What also made it difficult was that, we were preparing for the upcoming game of the week against the big Terps.
The scouting report of the Terps made us frightened because we heard they were a really big team and semi-fast. Their technique of play was very proper. The game was to be played at College Park Maryland, which is already scary by itself..LOL.
But anyways we arrive at 12 oclock to warm up for the game that is to be played at 2. The weather was really hot and looking at the other team warming up, it made it seem that we have it in for ourselves. The biggest player on their team was 280 and 6’5. Comparing that to one of our players our biggest is 6’1 weighing at 225, as you see their was a slight advantage here. Our coach gave us a big hint and told us to wear them down, since they are big they will get tired faster. Our game plan was basically to give it to our wings and let them run it down their throat.
Let the fun begin, we kick off to Maryland and the first play of the game they run it back for a try. Then we kick off again to them and they gain about 40 yards almost another try. We didn’t know what was going on but it was all about our tackling. Even though all we did during our practice was practicing hitting, we just could wrap up and hit. So Maryland was coming out with a lot of fire. But finally we made a big stop and stole the ball for a try. To put us at 14 to 24 at half time us losing. During the game I was playing 8 man which made me be in the back of the pack to make tackles and run the ball a lot. I was so exhausted at half time due to the heat and so much running.
Starting the second half we came out flat footed again, so we had the mentality of losing the whole time basically. All we need was one big play to turn us around. And FINALLY IT CAME…THE SMALLEST GUY ON OUR TEAM TODD LAID OUT THE 280 GUY ON THE OTHER TEAM AND WE GOT THE BALL BACK. That happening made a huge turn for us. After that hit we scored two consecutive tries to put us back into the game. As the time was running down we went into panic mode and were shooting ourselves in the foot. Having to do so we were now down with 1 minute left. Coming up with the ball was a rookie and he found the gap and scored a try. Losing ever scrum throughout the whole game we lost a very important one to keep us in the game and being over powered they win the scrum to win the game basically, because after that srum they scored a try and the time was up!.
After the game we were all exhausted we thought we played well but we became very panic when it was time to step it up a gear and finish the game. So next practice I have a feeling it is going to be all about conditioning and tackling techniques since that is what held us down in the game. But we just to have a short memory and look forward to our next game: Home against NC State at 1 on Saturday come out and watch!!!!
